We built BlurPatch because other blur add-ons briefly exposed hidden elements while pages loaded. A blink on screen became a leak on a live stream, or another cut in the edit.

It briefly holds the page out of view, scans for elements that match your saved rules, applies the blur, and then reveals the page. This prevents the usual gap between showing the page and blurring sensitive content. The protection applies to saved, enabled rules.
Yes, deliberately. BlurPatch briefly delays the first visible render while it scans the page and applies your saved blurs. That small pause is the point: your recording should capture the already-blurred page. The time needed depends on the webpage and your rules; the illustration above is slowed down and is not a speed benchmark.
Open BlurPatch, choose the Element or Text tool, and click the content you want to hide. Adjust the blur strength and the rule is saved for future visits. Pro and Lifetime also support individual words, groups of similar components, and selected or site-wide text replacement.
Yes. Saved rules reapply after page reloads and can match dynamically added elements, so you do not have to select the same content before every take. If a website changes its layout, check that your saved rules still match before recording or going live.
BlurPatch works on supported HTTP and HTTPS webpages where the extension can run. Chrome restricts extensions on internal pages and the Chrome Web Store. You choose what to blur; it does not automatically detect every piece of sensitive information. Startup protection also has a fallback to release the page if initialization stalls, so it is not a guarantee against every possible exposure.
No. Page content, selectors, raw domain names, and replacement text stay in your browser. BlurPatch sends limited account, plan, and usage data, including aggregate counts of blurred elements when signed in, as described in the Privacy Policy.
No. BlurPatch changes how the webpage looks in your browser. The original data still exists in the page and may remain accessible to the website and developer tools. It is a visual tool for recordings, streams, screenshots, and screen sharing, not a way to permanently redact the source data.
